When I add citations using RefWorks Citation Manager the author's names appear in full, rather than just their surname. How can I fix this?

Answer

This problem usually arises because of an error in the author field when you have imported a reference from a database.

Go into RefWorks online and click on the reference that is displaying incorrectly. Click on the Edit pencil icon in the top right hand corner of the reference and delete and re-type the author's name, following the convention surname, first name. It should now display correctly.

You may need to update your document if you have added this reference to a paper. Do this by clicking on the hamburger menu in RefWorks Citation Manager and clicking Update Document.
