How can I convert files or text into accessible formats and have it read back aloud?

Answer

You can use the Make It Accessible service from the Library website to upload and convert files or text into accessible formats.

For example:

  • PDF to Word
  • Word to mp3 (audio file)
  • JPEG with text to Word
  • PDF to E-Book

See this link for a step-by-step guide with screenshots.

If you are converting to Word to have it read back to you by a text-to-speech software, you can also use the Immersive Reader feature in Word MS365 (online).  This is a built-in text-to-speech functionality in Word Online.
