Avoid signing in as a guest on MS Teams?
Answer
How to avoid signing in as a guest on Teams on your computer
If you are working from a staff computer or from a personal computer (where you are signed in with your personal email account on your browser and MS Teams Desktop App), you may find that your browser or MS Teams signs you in via your non-DMU credentials. That is why you appear as a guest in online session links. This happens as your browser (or App) is set up with your personal or staff account details.
If you have signed in as a DMU Student on your MS Teams Desktop app, you will not join sessions as a guest.
However, if you are on a computer where you cannot (or do not wish to) sign in as a DMU Student on the Teams desktop app (or browser), you can ensure you sign in to your MS365 DMU account if you open your browser in an Incognito (Chrome) or InPrivate (Edge) browser mode. These appear as black-framed browsers. Then, sign in to your MS365 via www.Office.com, MyDMU (www.my.dmu.ac.uk) and Blackboard (www.vle.dmu.ac.uk) in the black-framed browsers.

This ensures that any online meeting link that you click on from any of these platforms, opens Teams in a new tab in the black-framed browsers without conflict from your personal or staff settings on the computer. If you get the option to Continue in the Browser or Open the Teams Desktop app, select to continue in the Browser.
