How can I use PowerPoint on a MAC to record my presentation slides and create an MP4 video?

Answer

You can also use PowerPoint to record your slide show with narration and then export it as an MP4 file. You may have noticed that Mac apps tend to default to MOV video file exports in some applications. You can change the export file format option in PowerPoint to an MP4.

Record in PowerPoint

  • Go to Slide Show>Record Slide Show (button)
  • A presenter recording window appears with a red button. Click on the red button to start recording. Use the side arrow keys, or the arrow keys on your keyboard, to move the presentation slides forward. Do not speak over slide transition. Wait until the new slide has moved into view and then continue with your narration.
  • Click the Stop or Pause button at the top of the screen and then click on End Show when you have finished recording.
  • You will now see a Speaker icon on the bottom right on the slides where you have recorded audio. Hover over it to see the Playback button.
