Where are the files that you share in MS Teams Chat stored?

When you share a file in Teams chat, it is also uploaded to your OneDrive or SharePoint. It will be saved on your OneDrive if you share it directly in a chat with another person. It will be saved in Sharepoint if the file was shared with a Team.
OneDrive
When sharing a file in a Teams chat directly with another user, the file you shared is uploaded to both of your OneDrives. This is the reason you may see a message about an existing file when you try sharing a file that you have previously shared with another user.
These files are uploaded to a default folder on your OneDrive called Microsoft Teams Chat Files.
You can also view your OneDrive files from within the Teams app by clicking on the Files icon on the menu bar and then selecting OneDrive. If you cannot see the files icon, click on the three dots to see more options and select Files.
