How do I research a company to prepare for a job / placement interview?

Answer

To view information about the full range of support for employability, careers and placements available to you, please go to DMUWorks or log in directly to My Gateway.

Employers are looking for candidates who can demonstrate they have really done their research, rather than a quick look at a company website and social media. The Library has resources to assist you in researching a company or organisation prior to a selection process.  Use the links on the Employability Guide or the Business Subject Guide to use these resources as a DMU subscriber.

You can use sources such as Business Source Complete, ABI/Inform and FT.com to find company profiles and news items.  You can also find valuable market / sector information using Mintel and Statista, for example.  Showing an understanding of the market context for a company / organization you are interested in will really help you to stand out from other candidates.
