Once all copies of a title are on loan, our system will allow other Library users who need a copy to place a reservation on it using our Library Catalogue. Any item loaned to you can be requested back if it is needed by another Library user. You will have had it on loan for a minimum of 7 days from date of issue to the new return/due date.
Our system will request the early return of as many copies of that title as are needed to meet all reservations which have been placed, and starting with the copy which has been on loan the longest. If you have been given a new, shorter, due date for an item you have on loan, this is because you have had your copy of the item on loan longer than other people and it is now needed to meet a reservation.
If you issue a book which has reservations on it already, then it will only be issued for 7 days.
Please prioritise your use of the reserved item over other items you have on loan, and return it to the Library by the new due date you have been given. If you do not return an item which has been reserved, by its new due date, you will accrue charges as the item cannot be renewed and you will be unable to borrow any further items until the item is returned.
Details of the circumstances in which fines will be waived can be found on Library Fines.
