What help can I get with my dissertation, final year report or research project?
Answer
You can get help with your dissertation, final report or another type of research project through online resources, workshops and one-to-one support.
Online resources
The CLaSS dissertation toolkit is an interactive guide designed to help you plan, research and write your dissertation. It covers deciding your topic or title, your research proposal, your methodology, reading, researching, literature review, writing, editing and proofreading and verbally presenting.
More interactive guides are available on the Dissertations/Projects resources page, the Research Methods page as well as the Finding and evaluating information page.
You will also find these Referencing resources useful for completing your citations and references.
Workshops and writing groups
Library Learning Services are offering a range of workshops to support the literature search, reading, writing, research, data analysis and referencing skills that are required in dissertations and research projects. Check the workshop programme to find the next relevant event.
For students on visually based programmes, such as Fine Art or Graphic Design, the Drawing Centre offers regular support sessions to help develop your drawing and visual skills.
Postgraduate students who want to share ideas about writing and research can also join the Postgraduate Group on Campus (POGO).
Two dedicated writing groups for PhD students are also running regularly throughout the year. For more information, check the Writing Group for Research Students and Writing Circle webpages.
