I’ve done a search but it has brought back thousands of results. How do I narrow them down?

Answer

Filters and Keywords

Most databases have filters for date, language, type of material etc. Try a few of these.

You could also try searching for your keywords in specific fields (e.g. title, or abstract). In some databases (e.g. Library Search) you will need to go into the advanced search to do this. This technique will help to limit the number of results and make your search more focussed. You can combine searching in specific fields with filtering by date etc.

Scopus Example

Scopus filter for example by year, subject, type, language.
