How do I recommend reading materials for my students?

Answer

Recommended reading material can be requested through our Resource List system. Every module should have a Resource List to enable students to easily understand and find recommendations. Lists can include books and journal articles, but also video and audio materials.

We recommend finding the material you want to add from ‘Library Search’ and using the ‘add to DMU Resource List’ option to bookmark the item. The list will automatically provide live links to both print and electronic copies available. If the item doesn’t already exist within our collection, you can bookmark the details from another source, such as Amazon or Google Scholar. Anything that isn’t currently available in our stock will be purchased, as budget allows. The university operates on an e-first acquisitions policy, and will prioritise the purchase of books and journals in online form wherever possible.

We have three deadlines for the creation of lists. This allows us to review lists and purchase material in time for blocks 1 and 2, blocks 3 and 4, and blocks 5 and 6 (where applicable). Once created, Resource Lists can be added to the module Learning Zone Course for easy access.
