Notifications in LearningZone are alerts or messages that let you know about your Learning Zone online module activities and updates related to your course modules. These notification updates are sent to your DMU student email. They keep you up to date with everything that's happening in your Learningzone modules. You can view your notification settings from LearningZone by selecting your profile and 'Notifications' from the drop-down menu (see Figure 1 below). You can also pick up new notifications when you log into LearningZone and the update alerts icon (bell symbol which has a orange circle) from the mini navigation bar (see Figure 1)

Instant Notifications

Important ! The default instant notification settings ensure you stay informed and up-to- date on updates in regards to your modules on key areas. We have set key default settings under 'Instant Notifications' to ensure you receive up-to-date information on your modules - you will receive these instant notifications on areas 'checked' under Instant Notifications via your DMU student email (see Figure 2 below). The 'Activity Feed' in your home page of LearningZone modules is an important panel which your lecturers can post information or updates that you need to be informed on.  We highly recommend that you keep this item checked so that you can stay up-to-date on any module communications.

Contact Method - This section outlines the which email your LearningZone notifications will go to, this will be your DMU student email address (See Figure 3 below)

Summary of Activity - You have the option to receive a summary of updates relating to your LearningZone modules and can select when and how often you receive these (See Figure 3 below).

BrightSpace Pulse Mobile App Notifications:

On downloading Pulse you will need to in your mobile Settings and Notifications set this to allow notifications from the Pulse app if you wish to get notifications via the Pulse app. Read more about the mobile app for LearningZone 'BrightSpace Pulse'.

Below are some examples of the types of instant notifications options available:

1. Course Activity e.g. announcements: Your lecturers can use announcements  or the Activity Feed to communicate important information to the entire class. . You will receive these announcements as notifications, ensuring that you don't miss any important messages from your lecturers!

2. Content Updates: Whenever your instructors add or modify course materials, such as readings, presentations, or videos, you will receive notifications about these updates. This way, you will always be aware of new resources or changes in the course content that you need to review.

3. Assignment Notifications: Notifications can be sent to remind you of upcoming assignment due dates, inform you about new assignments being posted, or notify you of any changes in assignment instructions. These notifications are helpful in keeping you on track with your coursework and ensuring that you submit your assignments on time.

4. Quiz and Exam Notifications: Just like assignments, notifications can be sent to alert you about quizzes or exams. You might receive reminders of upcoming assessments, changes in assessment dates or instructions, or notifications when your graded quiz or exam results are available.

5. Grade Release Notifications: When your instructors release grades for assignments, quizzes, or exams, you will receive notifications. 

6. Discussion Board Notifications: If you participate in course discussion boards, you will receive notifications when there are new discussion posts or replies.
