How can I keep my knowledge of the broader business context up-to-date?
Answer
To view information about the full range of support for employability, careers and placements available to you, please go to DMUWorks or log in directly to My Gateway.
When you are in the process of applying for employment or placement opportunities it is important to show that you have an up-to-date understanding of the broader business context (often referred to as 'commercial awareness').
The Library provides access to sources that can help you to develop your knowledge of factors that have an impact on companies and organisations. These include:
- Market / Industry Reports (e.g. Mintel, Statista and MarketLine)
- Authoritative news sources (e.g. Financial Times, Economist)
- Professional / Trade Journals (publications aimed at professionals working in a specific field).
Links to key sources you can use as a DMU subscriber are available on the Employability Guide or the Business Subject Guide.
